5 Things To Do Before 2020.

I can't believe we only have six days in 2019 and before we know it, another year will have passed and we'll be on to 2020! I feel old, because all I know is twenty years ago is 1980 not 2000. You get me?! And that being said, I am just not ready for the new year because I feel like I still have tons to do before making a fresh start in the new year. But holiday means rest, so I decided to keep the list short and actually focus on the important tasks during the transition!

Clean out email inbox and folders.
I'm subscribed to newsletters, many newsletter, especially to interior and fashion websites because I just don't want to miss anything! Here's the thing: I'm a total sucker for newsletter and I need the updates. At the moment, I have like +100 unread emails that I'd mostly delete in two weeks and this habit I'll break right away! It feels quite exhausting to know how many newsletters come into my inbox at the same time and they are quite distracting every time because I overlook important mails quite easily. So this is like a must-do in my list before 2020!

Reflect on 2019.
It's not until this year that I've done a reflection on any year. I love to read this kind of content and it's inspired me to do it. I find it to be one of the best ways to shift your mindset and re-connect to yourself again. Embracing change is also the way to actually increase self-awareness and reflection helps to bring attention to what's happening in your life in a mindful way! As I was reflecting on this year, I learned how many improvement I've made this year and it brings so much positivity into my mind and my soul.

The journey into self-love and self-acceptance must begin with self-examination… until you take the journey of self-reflection, it is almost impossible to grow or learn in life.” – Iyanla Vanzant

Set goals for 2020.
Discovering purposes is easy when it comes to 'new year'. Save money, do exercises more, eat healthy.. they sound familiar - every year! Yet I don't see myself carrying out any of those after a half of the year. And I realized that I am missing one essential thing: setting measurable goals for each! How I achieve them is the key, and I find it to be reasonable to write the how down! That means allowing myself to free up some of that mental clutter to help me visualizing the things I want to achieve.

Declutter the whole house.
Well, well.. this is also one of my favorite thing before leaving 2019 because a new year means a fresh start. Decluttering gives me more space to anything: to work, to think.. With me staying at home during off-days work, it's quite distracting to look at a big pile of stuff anywhere. I get to find something that I've probably lost months ago, or something that is just trash, that it kinda forces me to be selective about the things I want to keep around me. But above all, it definitely gives me the freedom I need to kick off the new year in the best possible way!

Look forward to 2020.
After reviewing the year, setting goals and actually get done important things, it's time to soak in the excitement about the new year. What events/appointment/holiday are you most excited about? I started to look forward to the new year in 2019 and what hopes and dreams I want to achieve, and I am glad I've done it because it makes me alive and gives me that feeling of happiness and simultaneous fulfillment every time reading it. And yes, I re-read my own blog post and it's a great tool to motivate myself! Excitement actually moves me to action like nothing else, and that's amazing! I look forward to many things in the new year, and will definitely write a post about it in the new year, so I am looking forward to 2020 and to the opportunities this year will bring.

So tell me, what do you think about the list? What would you actually do before leaving the old and welcoming 2020? I'd love to know! We are celebrating Christmas in Ricky's hometown today so there is no Christmas post this year because family time is the best time and I want to enjoy the rest of my holiday offline. Merry Christmas everyone! May the Christmas spirit bring you lots of joy and peace this holiday season! x

until then.
